LOUGHMACRORY 1 – 07 1 – 09 GORTIN
Reserves lose out to Gortin second half resurgence
Only a speculative shot which fell to the Loughmacrory net kept the visitors in touch at the interval as the reserves dominated the game, particularly through Gerard Donaghy who set up numerous attacks from midfield. Two points from Karl Logue, one from an acute angle from Brian Harte and a 45 from Patrick McCullagh on the stroke of half time were only enough to maintain parity at half time with too many chances falling by the wayside. Half time score 0 - 05 to 1 - 02.
The second period opened brightly with a well taken left-footed point from Gerard Donaghy and when Gavin Conway won difficult possession and laid the ball out to Karl Logue his cross set up a fisted goal from Brian Harte who continued to torment his marker.
At this point however Gortin took control around midfield and scored seven unanswered points, five from play, to pull three clear and leave the reserves on the back foot. Malachy Coyle pointed a long-range free in the final minutes but the damage was done by this stage and Gortin held out to record a victory.
