EGLISH 0 – 09 1 – 08 LOUGHMACRORY
The reserve team began their league campaign where they left off in Edendork last year with an away win, this time to Eglish. In a team with a few new faces, including Niall Toner and Pearse Donaghy, and the return of seasoned campaigners Barry McElduff (captain) and Malachy Coyle from their forays into management, the blend of youth and experience took little time to settle into their stride.
With early scores coming from Shane McCullagh, back from a long term injury, and Eoin Mullan whose point and left-footed goal provided a foundation for what became a hard fought victory which went right down to the wire.
Having opened an early lead we never pulled sufficiently away from home side who kept in touch and drew level in the closing stages. Paddy McDonald was on hand however to break from midfield and ensure full points for his side regaining the lead which Eglish could not claw back a second time.
