Seniors march on with convincing win over Gortin

The seniors kept pace with the leaders at the top of division 2 with this victory over Gortin St Patrick’s in Páirc an Locha this evening. Up 0 -6 to 0-4 at the break two they started the second period brightly and two goals from Niall Grimes saw them well ahead. Gortin were reduced to fourteen men and to make up for this they were awarded a dubious penalty in the second half when Loughmacrory keeper Ryan Keenan shepherded advancing forward along the endline but when the attacker slipped and fell he was they duly awarded a penalty which was converted to bring Gortin right back into contention.

Loughmacrory continued to dominate proceedings with man of the match Kevin Fullen cutting out any forward attempts by the opposition and then surging forward to set up opportunities for his attacking  colleagues. When Stephen Donaghy sent a dangerous high ball into the Gortin square corner back Damien McAleer used his height to palm the ball to the Gortin net. Loughmacrory kept control of the game from there to the final whistle.
