LOUGHMACRORY 1 - 10 0 - 04 STRABANE
Early goal sets the pace
Loughmacrory had a comfortable home victory over a robust Strabane side in Pairc An Locha this evening. Within five seconds of the throw-in Loughmacrory full forward Ronan Ward had the ball in the Strabane net, having won possession of a long ball in from Stephen Conway, and his side led from there to the final whistle.
At half time the score stood at 1 – 06 to 0 – 02 with Connal Kelly and corner back Shane Donnelly among the scorers for The Lough. Although Loughmacrory continued to pile on the pressure in the second half they failed to put away a number of chances missing two open goals and sending a number of shots wide. However they did manage another four points; two from Stephen Conway, who had an excellent game in the middle of the park, and one each from Gerard Donaghy and Enda Ward. Strabane’s only reply was two points from frees.
Unfortunately for Loughmacrory Ronan Ward had to retire with a leg injury in the second half. The victory should leave Loughmacrory in a good position to claim another two points when they entertain Moy on Sunday.
