EGLISH 1 - 08 0 - 08 LOUGHMACRORY
Eglish end seniors’ good run
The senior’s good run of victories came to an abrupt end when they fell by a goal to table toppers Eglish in Eglish on Sunday.
Enda Ward opened the scoring in the first minute with a free and John Gallagher made it two nil after making a fine catch and playing a one two with Niall Donaghy. Brendan Donnelly pulled one back for the home side before Stephen Donaghy was first to pounce on a rebound to split the posts and put the visitors two up once more. By the twentieth minute Eglish had levelled the match and two minutes later they struck for the only goal of the game which proved to be the match winner at the end. On the stroke of half time Niall Donaghy took a pass from Stephen Grimes to send over leaving the half time score Eglish 1 – 03 Loughmacrory 0 – 04.
The second half was just three minutes old when Gussy McAleer pulled one back for the Lough and two minutes later Karl Logue had the teams level at 1 - 03 to 0 – 06. An Eglish point from play and a converted free from Enda Ward maintained parity and left all to play for at the three quarter stage. The final quarter however belonged to Eglish as they rattled over four points without reply and a converted free from Enda Ward, his third of the game, came too late to spark a Loughmacrory revival.
