LOUGHMACRORY 1 - 12 0 - 10 GORTIN
In a much improved performance on their recent form Loughmacrory collected two league points from their encounter with Gortin on Friday evening in Pairc An Locha to ease themselves out of the dreaded bottom four of the Div 1B table reversing the result from their first leg match against the same opposition earlier in the year. Loughmacrory dominated the first half and went in at the break with an eight point cushion on a score line of 1 – 08 to 0 – 03, the goal coming from minor player Gerard Donaghy. In what proved to be a most successful reversal of roles Stephen Conway turned in a match winning performance at centre half back while Michael McGee showed that a class player can hold his own in any position in the park when he played his first match for the Lough in the number 11 jersey. Up front Ronan Ward tormented the Gortin defence giving an exhibition of point scoring both from play and frees.
Although Loughmacrory continued to pile on the pressure and had gone into a ten point lead by the tenth minute of the second half, from then on they lost their way somewhat and Gortin at last found their range notching six points to Loughmacrory’s one in the final quarter.
