On the cultural the Club was represented in both Scór Na nÓg in a variety of categories. Unfortunately none of our participants were successful. The past year also saw the club commence Irish Music lessons in the clubrooms and these have proved to be a major success with their popularity increasing all the time. I would like to thank all those who participated in both Scór Sinsear and Scór na nÓg as well as those who assist with the Music lessons and also to our Cultural Officer Martin Donaghy for their efforts during 2009. Hopefully in the future the club will bear fruits of the good work being done at present with our younger members.
The Club hosted the Harte Memorial Tournament for U-12 teams on Saturday 29th August. Five teams from Loughmacrory, Kildress, Emyvale, Greencastle and Beragh competed and after a very enjoyable days football it was our own U-12 side that emerged victorious by defeating Greencastle in the Final.
The Fundraising initiative ‘Club Loughmacrory’ set up in 2007 continues to provide a much needed revenue income for the club. With approximately 200 members at present this venture is essential to ensure the club runs smoothly financially smoothly. I would like to thank all those who currently contribute to this scheme. Presently is it set to run until 2012 and anyone who is not involved at present are encouraged to do so for the remaining three years. Additionally the Club Lotto provides a healthy weekly income for the club and special praise must go to our Lotto sellers as well as those who support the club in this way. Mick Meenagh also deserves a mention for his Co – Ordination of the weekly lotto draw. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our Club sponsors. Their input also helps to boost the clubs finances and it is greatly appreciated during these tough economic times. A special word of thanks must go to our main sponsor, Aidan Kelly, of Macc Engineering for his input and support throughout the year.
The club Website continues to provide up to date information online for all those who access the internet and Seamus Mullan deserves praise for ensuring all information on the site is updated on a regular basis. Seamus also deserves a mention for his role as County Committee delegate as does Paddy O Brien for his involvement with the Tyrone CCC.
The Gym situated within our new pavilion has proved to be a very popular amenity within the community with its membership ever increasing. Thanks are extended to Barry Mc Elduff for ensuring it is efficiently run.
The club had 221 members registered with Croke Park during the past year and had a total of seven teams insured under the GAA injury scheme. We also had six people retrained in the use of the Heart defibrillator which we received from the Cormac Trust. A new range of Club merchandise was also introduced during the year and Paddy O Brien took charge of its distribution.
As Tyrone reached the All Ireland Semi Final stage in 2009 there was also the added work of allocating ticket allocations for the majority of games. Largely this was not a problem during the past year but there were a small number of people who ordered tickets and did not collect them, which left our job a lot more difficult. In order to cover losses like this the club have discussed adding a cover charge to the tickets. I would like to thank Barney Gallagher and Damian Mullan in assisting me in dealing with our ticket distribution during the past year.
