Seniors lose to Omagh in pen ultimate game of the season

In the penultimate league game of 2009 the seniors went down to Omagh St Enda’s in Páirc An Locha on Saturday evening. The town men were the better team for most of the match and had four points on the board by the end of the first quarter before Stephen Conway took a short pass from Ronan Ward to open the St Teresa’s account. Omagh continued to dictate matters adding a further two points but Connal Kelly gave the home team some glimmer of hope when he got onto the end of a long ball in from Enda Ward to rattle the visitors’ net. Enda Ward closed the gap to a single point when he made a fine catch from a high ball in from his brother Ronan but decided to take his point when a goal might have been an option. Omagh however had the final say of the opening half when they went straight up the field from the kick out to goal, opening a four point gap at the interval at 1 – 02 to 1 – 06.

As the second half got underway Omagh continued to dominate adding a second goal and three further points in reply to a pointed free from Ronan Ward to put nine between the sides and leave the deficit too much for the home team to claw back. Ronan Ward continued to pose a threat up front for the Lough adding three more points and Ciaran Ward also got his name on the score sheet but it was too little as the town men finished strongly with three further points to run out comfortable winners.
Loughmacrory have now just one game to play in three weeks time against the high flying Ardboe
