Seniors in trouble after Killyclogher defeat

The seniors put in another poor performance in Ballinamullin today showing signs of a team that was tired and are now in danger of losing their senior status next season. They were completely dependant on Ronan Ward for most of their scores and only Shane Donnelly in defence showed any composure on the ball. Killyclogher had gone 4 nil up before the St Teresa’s registered, but when Ronan Ward pointed a free and then set up his brother Enda for a similar score it looked as if a competitive encounter might be on the cards. However a point from a Sean Slane free was their only other score of the opening half as the home side, with the wind at their backs, chalked up a goal and four further points to go in at the break leading 1 – 08 to 0 – 03.

Killyclogher added to their tally in the first minute of the second half before Ronan Ward pulled back three for the visitors, all from placed balls, one a great effort form all of fifty metres The home side upped their game once more and, even though they were playing into the wind, they dominated proceedings for the next ten minutes forging through the Loughmacrory defence and finding plenty of space to shoot. They had gone 9 points ahead at 1 – 12 to 0 – 06 before Ronan Ward sent over the sixth of his seven points on the day. Sean Slane and Stevie Conway added two further points for the visitors but Killyclogher finished strongly to emerge nine point winners.
