GALBALLY 1 - 14   0 - 09 LOUGHMACRORY

Seniors bow out timidly to Galbally
The seniors put in a lack lustre performance against Galbally Pearses in Pearse Park on Sunday evening and are now in dire trouble at the bottom of the division 1 table. Although missing a few regulars through injury this can in no way account for the poor display which saw them play second fiddle to a mediocre Galbally team for most of the game.

Sean Slane opened the scoring with a free in the first minute after Eoin Harte was fouled. Galbally then went  0 – 3 to 0 – 1 ahead before Joey Kelly advanced from the half forward line to play a one two with Stephen Grimes before splitting the posts and Slane converted another free to level the game after fifteen minutes. That was the end of Loughmacrory’s first half scoring as the home side took control to go in at the break leading 0  -7  to 0 – 3.

Immediately on the restart Ronan Ward pointed a free to close the gap to three but the Pearses then hit two in succession before Enda Ward made an excellent run to point from play and within a minute the same player took a pass from Mark McCullagh to make it 0 -9 to 0 – 7. The game seemed to be a contest once again but in the final quarter the visitors’ challenge faded badly and the home side dominated the final quarter notching a goal and five points in reply to two points from Loughmacrory’s best player on the day Sean Slane, one an excellent effort with his right foot. Loughmacrory now find themselves lodged second from the bottom of the table on six points and with only three games left to play
