LOUGHMACRORY 0 – 09     2 – 13 COALISLAND

In a disappointing encounter on Thursday evening in Páirc An Locha the seniors gave a lack lustre performance to go down tamely to the visiting Coalisland Fianna.
Ronan Ward, one of the few Loughmacrory players to enhance his reputation on the night, sent over a free after five minutes in reply to two similar scores from the Fianna, but by the time he added his and Loughmacrory’s second score the visitors had registered a goal and four points. Midway through the first half Coalisland were awarded a penalty which they duly converted to race onto a ten points lead at 2 – 06 to 0 – 02. In the final ten minutes of the first half Ward and Stephen Grimes pointed in reply to two points from Coalisland to leave the half time score Coalisland 2 – 08 Loughmacrory 0 – 04.

The second half was seven minutes old before a flag was raised and it was the visitors who raised it as they were now coasting and Loughmacrory were looking shapeless. Ronan Ward pointed a free and Sean Slane sent over a good point but by this time Coalisland were coasting and even though they lifted their foot off the pedal the home side failed to show any sign of improvement. On twenty minutes Sean Slane pointed but Coalisland were easily able to cancel out these scores at the other end. Enda Ward sent Connal Kelly through for a point and they did manage another two points but these were simply consolation scores as the visitors had the league points wrapped up long since. A big improvement is called for in the remaining four league games if the seniors are to lift themselves out of the dreaded relegation zone.
