LOUGHMACRORY 0 – 15 2 – 12 MOY
Seniors lose to Moy in exciting tussle
In a fast and exciting game of football the seniors just failed to hold on to a narrow half time lead, eventually going down by three points to the Moy. However it was the Lough men who opened proceedings in a whirlwind fashion raking up five points without reply in the first five minutes all from the boot of Ronan Ward who was having a field day feeding off some well won possession from the evergreen Stevie Conway. With a strong wind at their backs It looked as if they might build up a sizeable half time lead which would be needed when the sides turned around. But the East Tyrone men cancelled out this good opening when they struck for a goal either side of points from Sean Cavanagh. Mark McCullagh Enda and Ronan Ward all pointed to open up a three point lead once more only to again be hit by a goal levelling the game. Ronan Ward then sent a 45 between the sticks before Moy levelled matters with a point as the short whistle beckoned. A minute later Enda Ward took a pass from Sean Slane to put the Lough one up once more and on the stroke of half time Sean Slane finished a good Loughmacrory move with a rasping shot which came off the crossbar and was cleared as the whistle sounded.
With the wind at their backs the Moy men levelled the game and went two up before Ronan Ward made an excellent run through the Moy defence to split the posts. He and Cavanagh swapped points before Sean Slane pointed to make it 0 – 13 to 2 – 07. Moy had a point before Stephen Conway levelled the match for the sixth time at 0 – 14 to 2 – 08 midway through the second half. It was now the turn of the Tir Na nOg men to take advantage of the breeze and they had gone three up before Ronan Ward sent over his tenth point of the match, this time a 45 against the breeze. Moy had the final say with the last point of the match to take the vital league point home to the Blackwater.
