LOUGHMACRORY 2 - 07 1 - 11 CARRICKMORE (AT GALBALLY)
Seniors lose by a point to neighbours Carrickmore
In their championship opener against Carrickmore the seniors relinquished a three point half time lead to eventually go down by one point in Galbally this evening. Playing with a strong wind at their backs Loughmacrory were the more composed team in the opening half and led by five points to one after twenty minutes. Carrickmore were finding it difficult to make any inroads into the Loughmacrory half but then were given a lifeline when they were awarded a penalty which they duly converted to close the gap to two at the turn around.
In the second period the St Colmcille’s had the advantage of the elements and they began to settle better to their task levelling the game at 1 - 03 to 0 - 06 before moving into what looked a comfortable four points lead. The Lough men were not finished yet however and when Stephen Conway pounced on to a Ronan Ward delivery to punch to the net the game was up for grabs again. In a tight finish the men in green and gold were relieved to hear the referee’s whistle as they held on to the one point lead at 1 - 11 to 2 - 07.
