LOUGHMACRORY 0 - 11       2 - 10 DROMORE

Two goal strikes deny seniors against Dromore

Two goals, one in each half, saw Dromore St Dympna’s take both points in this league encounter in Loughmacrory on Saturday evening.
The home team made a whirlwind start to the game, Ronan Ward knocking over two points in the opening two minutes. By the tenth minute however the St Dympna's had levelled and gone a point up but Ronan Ward brought the sides level once again with a free and a minute later Sean Paul Slane sent over a mighty free from out on the right wing to put the Lough boys ahead once more. The home side were making all the running now and two more points from Ronan Ward, the first after an excellent catch and lay off from his brother Enda and the second a mighty effort from the forty five metre line made it double scores in favour of the home side. A minute later it was all square however Dromore making a quick raid and striking for their first goal to regain parity. Ronan Ward again sent over a long range free to put his side one up but the visitors replied in kind to leave the half time score Loughmacrory 0 - 07 Dromore 1 - 04.
The second half was just three minutes old when Dromore struck for their second goal to take a lead which they were to hold till the final whistle. Stephen Conway took a pass from Mark McCullagh to split the posts and although it was Loughmacrory who exerted the most pressure for the next twenty minutes the visitor’s defence was giving nothing away easily and a point from Joseph Kelly was all Loughmacrory had to show for sustained pressure. Dromore on the other hand made the most of their surges forward knocking over six points in reply to a converted free from Ronan Ward and a fine point from Enda Ward after a good run up field by John Gallagher.
