LOUGHMACRORY 0 - 10 0 - 11 STRABANE
Seniors suffer second Ulster League defeat
The seniors suffered another defeat in the Ulster League on Sunday going down by a point to Strabane Sigersons in Páirc an Locha.
Connor Fullen took a pass from Connal Kelly to open the scoring after 9 minutes but the visitors had posted two points and drawn a good save from Matthew O’Brien in the Loughmacrory goal before the two corner forwards combined once again to level the match at two apiece - this time Kelly the scorer and Fullen the provider. Within a minute Loughmacrory regained the lead when Stephen Donaghy put Sean Slane through to point. The visitors then struck three points in as many minutes to go two ahead before Connal Kelly pulled one back for the home side and, after good work by John Gallagher and Brian McCrystal, Ronan Ward took his first score of the afternoon to leave the sides level at five apiece going into the break.
As in the first half the corner men Fullen and Kelly combined to open the second half scoring Fullen again the finisher. Strabane’s pulled one back for the North Tyrone men through their main danger man Warner Mullan, before Ronan Ward successfully converted two frees to leave the score 0 – 08 to 0 – 06 in favour of the St Teresa’s with ten minutes of the half gone. As in the opening period the Sigersons then hit a purple patch knocking over four points in as many minutes to go two ahead. Loughmacrory points from Stephen Donaghy and Sean Slane left the game in the balance with two minutes to go but it was Strabane who took the league points with a converted free at the death.
