ARDBOE 0 - 11 1 - 07 LOUGHMACRORY
Seniors fall by the minimum in tough battle with Ardboe
Despite their best league display so far this year the seniors were just one point behind their more illustrious opponents Ardboe O' Donovan Rossa in the latter’s back yard on Thursday evening.
Ronan Ward and Kyle Coney exchanged early points and the sides were level at three apiece after ten minutes. The Rossas were one ahead when a harmless looking sideline ball from Emmott Donaghy dropped over the keeper’s head and all the way to the Ardboe net to put the visitors 2 up at the break on a 0 - 04 to 1 - 03 scoreline.
On the resumption Ronan Ward and Frank McGuigan swapped points but the home team had established parity by the three quarter stage and went one up with ten minutes to go. Frees from Emmott Donaghy and Ronan Ward kept the Lough in touch but with just a few minutes on the clock Ardboe hit the front again and, despite an determined push from the St Teresa’s for the equaliser, the home team held out for a narrow victory.
