LOUGHMACRORY 1 - 12 0 - 14 CRAIGBANE
Seniors recover winning ways
The seniors had a valuable run out against Derry team Craigbane on Sunday, Emmott Donaghy’s second half goal proving the winner in the end. The Derry men opened the scoring with a point in the second minute but two minutes later Enda Ward cancelled this out from a free. The home side then went 0 - 04 to 0 - 01 up, a Ward point sandwiched between two similar scores from corner back Noel Kelly and Emmott Donaghy. Two Craigbane points saw the visitors close the gap to one but that was as close as they were to get as points from Raymond Ward, Sean Slane and an Enda Ward free put the Lough ahead 0 - 07 to 0 - 05 at the turn around.
On the resumption Emmott Donaghy extended the home lead with a free before Enda Ward made it 0 - 09 to 0 - 05. Craigbane then hit three unanswered points to close the gap to the minimum before Emmott Donaghy rattled the visitors’ net to put four between them. Gerry Donaghy replaced the injured Mickey McGee midway through the half and it was kept close from there to the final whistle, the visitors knocking over five points in reply to three from Sean Slane, Emmott Donaghy and Stevie Grimes.
