LOUGHMACRORY 1 - 13 1 - 07 DUNGANNON
Seniors have six points to spare over visitors Dungannon
The seniors scored a fairly comfortable 6 points victory at home to Dungannon Clarkes on Saturday evening on a 1 - 13 to 1 - 07 scoreline.
Loughmacrory’s main marksman, Ronan Ward, knocked over three points and another from Ciarán Ward saw them lead 0 - 04 to 0 - 03 after ten minutes. Benny Ward was next to raise a white flag and five minutes later his brother Ciarán sent over after a good Loughmacrory move all the way up the field. Ronan Ward gave the home side a 6 points advantage when he was quickest on to a dropping ball which he cleverly punched to the Clarkes net. Stephen Donaghy added a further minor to leave the half time score 1 - 07 to 0 - 03.
On the resumption Stephen Grimes fed Ronan Ward for the opening point of the half before the visitors hit their best spell of the match notching a goal and two pointed frees in a fruitful five minute spell to reduce the deficit to three points.
The Lough boys soon regrouped once again and points from Paddy McCullagh, Benny Ward and two from midfielder Sean Slane put clear distance between the sides going into the final few minutes. Dungannon could only muster two points in the second period and Loughmacrory had the final say when Stephen Donaghy sent over as the clock ticked down and there was no way back for the Clarkes.
