LOUGHMACRORY 1 - 13 1- 05 DUNGANNON
The minors played some excellent fast combination football to record a comfortable eight points win at home over Dungannon on Saturday evening. Dungannon were actually first to score but Loughmacrory were putting some fine moves together and might have opened their account with a goal but for a good save from The Clarke’s keeper. The scores did soon come however as full forward Stephen Grimes sent three frees over the bar within three minutes to put his side into a lead which they never again lost. Wing back Conor Fullen then got onto the end of a good move involving Daniel McCallan, Daniel Fox and Paul Donnelly to split the posts. Fox and McCallan then combined once again for Fox to send over and Sean O’Kane and Paul Donnelly added points to put the home side four ahead at the turn around at 0 - 07 to 0 - 03.
On the resumption Michael McCullagh fed Stephen Grimes to extend the home lead and a minute later a good Loughmacrory move saw Daniel Fox through on goal but unfortunately his shot just sailed inches wide. Stephen Grimes pointed another free before The Clarke’s burst through for a goal chance but Ciarán Donaghy in the Loughmacrory goal was alert and managed an excellent save before points from Paul Donnelly and Sean O’Kane extended the Loughmacrory score to eleven points. The writing was on the wall for the visitors by this stage but they made a last ditch attempt to pull the game out of the fire and their efforts were rewarded with a goal. It was too little too late however as it merely reduced the deficit from eight points to five. The home side’s response was quick and deadly too as Sean O’Kane took a pass across goal from Stephen Grimes and shot to the net and when Grimes grabbed the kick out and returned it over the bear the heart was gone from the East Tyrone lads and Grimes sent over his seventh point of the game two minutes later to put some more icing on an already well iced cake.
