LOUGHMACRORY 3 - 10 2 - 05 STEWARTSTOWN
Stewartstown Harps travelled to Loughmacrory and put up a great battle before yielding the points to a Loughmacrory team which had that edge on them and looked like winners from as early as Enda Ward’s twelfth minute goal. The early exchanges were fairly even with two points apiece after five minutes. The visitors then went one up with a converted free but Ronan Ward levelled matters immediately from a placed ball after he himself was fouled having made an excellent high catch right in front of goal. The Harps temporarily seized the initiative with a goal on twenty two minutes but their lead was short lived. The Lough men moved the ball quickly up field from the kick out and when Ciarán Ward was fouled he took a quick free to Enda Ward who banged to the net from close range to level the match at 1 -3 each. Ronan Ward pointed another free to put the home side a point up going into the break.
Stevie Conway sent over a free from the right wing before Stephen Donaghy struck for Loughmacrory’s second goal and within a minute the same player had split the posts with an excellent point from near the sideline to put his side 2 - 6 to 1 - 3 ahead.
Sub Stephen Grimes then got in on the scoring act when the visiting keeper failed to hold onto a high ball in from Enda Ward and Grimes was on hand to finish it to the net. The Harps did manage another goal when a high ball in deceived Donal Ward in the home goal dropping over his head into the net but from there on it was Loughmacrory’s game with the accurate Ronan Ward firing over four late points to clinch a decisive 3 - 10 to 2 - 05 victory.
