DERRYLAUGHAN 0 - 06 1 - 07 LOUGHMACRORY

The seniors collected their second brace of points at the shores of Lough Neagh on Sunday coming away with four points to spare over newly promoted Derrylaughan Kevin Barry’s.
The Barry’s were actually first to score with a point in the opening minute but it was to be their only score of the first half as the visitors soon got their act together, their opening score a goal finished to the net by Enda Ward after a good run and clever pass from man of the match Stephen Donaghy. Donaghy had an excellent game at corner forward and he next supplied Ward’s brother Ronan for the visitor’s opening point. As the first period drew to a close Sean Slane converted a free to leave the half time score 1 - 02 to 0 - 01.

Stephen Donaghy continued his good form into the second half sending over a beauty of a point from far out on the right wing with the half just two minutes old. Enda Ward then looked to be on the way for his second major but the Barry’s keeper managed to turn his shot around the post for a 45 which Ronan duly sent over the bar. Ronan added two further points to put his side five ahead with ten minutes to go but the home side then hit a purple patch reducing the deficit to three with two minutes to go.
Loughmacrory finished strongly however Brian McCrystal driving forward from the half back lint to split the posts before the final whistle sounded.

The one unfortunate aspect of the game from a Loughmacrory point of view was the enforced withdrawal of Michael McGee with a shoulder injury midway through the first half. His direct replacement Niall Kelly had a very solid game at the heart of the visitor’s defence making a few eye catching interceptions during the second when the Barry’s were threatening to come good.
