LOUGHMACRORY 2 - 09 1 - 12 EGLISH
All square in challenge against Eglish
Two goals from full forward Ronan Ward saw Loughmacrory go in at the break leading by six points in this challenge match against Eglish St Patrick’s on Sunday morning. Ward also contributed two points in the opening half and set up Ciarán Meenagh, who had come all the way from full back to send over a point. Joe McCracken completed the Loughmacrory first half scoring with two points, one from a free, to leave the score at half time Loughmacrory 2 - 05 Eglish 0 - 05.
On the restart Loughmacrory extended their lead in the opening minute when Brendan Ward fired over having played a one two with John Gallagher. The introduction of ex county man Brendan Donnelly lifted the visitors immensely and he was involved in all their good moves and scores. That opening point from Brendan Ward was Loughmacrory’s only score for eighteen minutes of the second half, a fruitful spell for the St Patrick’s in which they raked up a goal and four points to draw level.
Loughmacrory did make two good runs forward putting, first Brendan Ward, and next Ronan Ward through one on one with the Eglish keeper but he was up to the task on both occasions pulling off two fine saves. Brendan Donnelly then put the visitors ahead with a converted free and added a second a minute later for good measure but Ronan Ward came to the rescue of the home side knocking over two points in the last five minutes to level the game at 2 - 09 to 1 - 12 before referee John McCann blew his final whistle.
