COALISLAND 1 - 14 1 - 09 LOUGHMACRORY
Coalisland finish strongly in Ulster League tie
The seniors suffered their first defeat of the season on Sunday going down by five points to Coalisland in an open encounter at Father Campbell Park. Although Ronan Ward opened the scoring with a converted free for the visitors in the third minute the Fianna went three points up before Emmott Donaghy added Loughmacrory’s second. That score sparked a mini revival for the St Teresa’s as Sean Pol Slane converted another free form the right side and Enda Ward levelled the match at four apiece by the end of the first quarter. The home side then took control from that till the break and built up a 0 - 09 to 0 - 04 lead before Ciarán Ward took a pass from Emmott Donaghy to tag on a point on the stroke of half time.
Ronan Ward again opened the scoring in the second half and again the Fianna replied almost immediately. The visitors then hit a purple patch and points from Ciarán Ward a Slane free from close to the right sideline and an excellent fisted effort from Stephen Donaghy brought them to within a point of their opponents. Coalisland gained control once more racing into a 0 - 14 to 0 - 09 lead before Ronan Ward took an excellent pass from his brother Enda to rattle the home net with five minutes to play. The Fianna however finished strongly with a goal on the stroke of full time giving them a five point win.
