Maguire Cup making a guest appearance along with County Board Vice Chairman Mickey McGoldrick. The Youth presentation evening held in the Youth in Community Centre also proved to be a very enjoyable event.
A special word of thanks is extended to our group of weekly lotto collectors who ensure the club has a healthy income each week. Lotto Co Coordinator Barney Gallagher also deserves special recognition for his efficient running of this weekly fundraising venture, as does Website Officer Seamus Mullan for his up to date information, which is on display on the clubs excellent Website.
The club also owes a great debt of gratitude to our sponsors of banners around the playing field as well as our scoreboard sponsor Aidan Kelly (Macc Engineering) and Kelly Plant Hire as well as main club sponsor Glen Builders.
A special word of thanks is also extended to those Builders and labourers who assisted at the erecting of the wall at the new field during March and April. Their Voluntary efforts epitomise the spirit that exists within the local Community.
It is also vital to recognise our hard working Committee who all helped to keep the Club running during the past year. Their hard work, a lot of it unseen, is never fully appreciated and they deserve the thanks of everyone associated with the club. Our club Referees Sean McCartan and Cathal Logue as well as County Board Representative Paddy O'Brien also deserve recognition for their efforts in 2006. Sean had the distinction of referring the County Minor Final on Sunday 24th September this year and hopefully in the not too distant future we will see him fulfil a lifetime ambition to take charge of a Senior decider. The clubs supporters who followed our team’s week in week out all around the county deserve special praise for without them we would not be able to keep the club going.
As I bring to an end the Secretary’s report for 2006 I wish to thank all those who assisted me in anyway during the past year in particular Chairman Paddy O'Brien and Treasurer Sean Donaghy. I will not be standing for the Secretary’s post in 2007 and I would like to wish the new Secretary all the best in their role. I would also like to give a special mention of thanks to previous club Chairman Tom O'Brien who assisted me during my first year as Club Secretary.
In conclusion I would like to see new blood stepping forward tonight to assist with the running of our club. Fresh faces add a new lease of life to various walks of life and I would encourage new people to join the Committee for 2007. I would also like to wish all our teams good luck for the new season and hope they represent Cumann Naomh Treasa with pride and distinction.
Finally we remember those who are no longer with us. Our thoughts and prayers are with those families at this difficult time.
