The U-21 team played one competitive fixture and were defeated by Cookstown 2-3 to 2-13. Due to the withdrawals of other teams this result meant that the side qualified for the knock out stages. However after consultation between the Committee and Senior Management it was felt it would be better to withdraw from the competition.
Our Minor side with Paddy O'Brien and Malachy Coyle at the helm competed in Grade 2B. The side qualified for the league quarterfinals having won four of their league fixtures. In the Quarter finals the side faced a strong Derrylaughan team and were defeated 1-12 to 1-6. In the Championship the also faced Derrylaughan. This game played on Wednesday 3rd May resulted in a 0-7 to 0-12 defeat for the team thus ending our involvement in the 2006 Minor championship. A number of this Minor team have already played either Senior or Reserve football for the club and the potential exists for more to do the same with a little more application and commitment.
The U-16 team with Senior players Enda Ward and John Gallagher in charge were placed in Grade 2B. The side played ten league fixtures winning four and losing six. Unfortunately they did not manage to qualify for the league knock out stages. In their championship fixture with Trillick the lads were defeated by a single point 2-10 to 2-9. These players showed some encouraging signs during the year in particular by beating eventual championship winners Gortin. Hopefully they can build on this at Minor level in two years time.
Aidan Gordon took charge of the U-14 side that played in Grade 3. The lads played ten league games and won two. In the Championship they defeated Aghyaran in the Quarter Final 6-9 to 2-2 but fell to a strong Stewartstown team that went on to won the league and championship double in the Semi Final. This particular team suffered as a result of having a lack of numbers and in particular with having so few players in their final year of U-14.
The U-13 team with Stephen McCullagh, Mick Meenagh and Damian Mullan in charge competed in Grade 3. The side played six league games winning 4 drawing one and losing one thus ensuring qualification for the league semi final. In this they recorded a facile 8-10 to 1-1 victory over Clann Na Gael. The side played Eskra in the Final on Saturday 28th October in Beragh and recorded a 2-8 to 0-11 victory to win the first piece of silverware for the club since 2003. This particular team showed plenty of promise during the season and can look forward to Grade 2 Football with a sense of confidence next season.
Stephen, Mick and Damian as well as Ronan Ward were also in charge of the U-12 team. The side were grouped along with Galbally, Killeeshil,
