Under 13’s lift league title
In an exciting and entertaining county final against Eskra Loughmacrory lifted the under 13 league trophy in Beragh on Saturday, Niall Donaghy banging home two first half goals which proved crucial in the end.
Loughmacrory had the better of the first half exchanges Donaghy’s two brilliant goals putting his side five up at the break on a 2 - 04 to 0 - 5 scoreline.
Loughmacrory continued to hold the upper hand in the early second half exchanges Ryan Donaghy dominating the midfield area and charging forward to split the posts in the opening minute and supplying Niall Donaghy for his third point five minutes later.
Loughmacrory were now well in control and when Cormac McGaughey fired over a fine point with the next move of the match they looked to be sailing to victory. Despite this they failed to translate this dominance into scores and Eskra eventually found their rhythm knocking over five points without reply in a fruitful eight minute spell midway through the half to close the gap to two with ten minutes left on the clock.
During this the Lough defence closed off the route to goal once again and they began to control matters in the middle once more, Ryan Donaghy having the last say in the scoring stakes firing over his third point to open up a three points lead once again, a lead which they held to the final whistle.
Amid scenes of great jubilation county official Donal Magee presented Loughmacrory captain Feargal Grimes with the league shield and a noisy but happy Loughmacrory contingent made their way back to the crossroads, the scene of many a celebratory get together.
