CLAN NA NGAEL 2 - 07 1 - 10 LOUGHMACRORY
Reserves grab last minute equaliser
The reserves picked up one league point on Saturday in Aughabrack with corner back Gusty McAleer pointing on the stroke of full time to bring the sides level for the first time in the match.
The home side opened the scoring with a palmed goal after seven minutes to take a lead which they held to the final minute. Loughmacrory were finding the going tough against a stiff breeze but three points from Stephen Grimes and one from Pearse Donaghy kept them in touch at the break that early goal still separating the sides at 1 - 04 to 0 - 04.
The Clansmen began the second half as they had the first with a goal which put them six ahead after eight minutes. Stephen Grimes again opened the visitor’s second half account as Eoin Harte set him up for a neat point and Pearse Donaghy also found the range. The home side however now scented victory as two points from play saw them take a six point lead at the three quarter stage. Two more minors from the accurate Grimes and a good score form corner forward Noel McElduff reduced the deficit to five before Grimes hit the back of the Clan’s net to raise the visitor’s first green flag and his side’s hopes with six minutes left to play. Centre back Noel Kelly then surged forward to take a fine score reducing the margin to a dingle point and a minute later the game ended with that dramatic equaliser from McAleer.
