MOORTOWN 1 - 09 1 - 07 LOUGHMACRORY
Moortown reserves hold on to the last
Having begun the game playing down the hill with the wind on their backs Moortown’s reserves had opened a commanding lead five points lead before Loughmacrory raised a flag. During the second quarter the visitors came more into the game but the St Malachy’s still held the five points advantage at the break on a 1 - 04 to 0 - 02 scoreline.
The second half showed some of the mettle of the visitors as Pius McElhatton fed Ciarán Ward to split the posts and Ward himself added a fine individual effort. Then when he crashed a penalty to the home net a few minutes later there was just a point separating the sides.
Although there were further points from McElhatton and Ward the clincher could not be found however and a last gasp point from the home side saw them claim both league points and all four from this year’s meetings.
