EDENDORK 2 - 07 1 - 13 LOUGHMACRORY
Seniors make it four points from four in first two matches
It was score for score during the early exchanges of this encounter in Edendork on Saturday evening with the teams level at one apiece, two apiece and 3 apiece in the first ten minutes; the Loughmacrory scores coming from Enda Ward (2) and Stephen Donaghy. Although the visitors were the more creative up front it was the home side who went three up with a punched goal from close range midway through the half. Loughmacrory’s more incisive forays eventually paid off however when corner forward Stephen Donaghy rattled the home net and this score added to points from Ciarán Ward and Pearse Donaghy left the sides level on 1 - 06 each at the break.
Although Edendork opened the second half scoring in the first m minute, it was the visitors, with the wind now at their backs, who had much the better of the second half exchanges, registering a further 7 points in reply to just one from the home side. The St Teresa’s held a commanding 6 point lead with just 2 minutes to go on the clock but this was dramatically reduced to 3 in the 29th minute of the half when the St Malachy’s were awarded a penalty which was duly converted. There was now just a kick of a ball between the sides and two minutes into injury time, the home team made one last desperate effort push for the goal which would give them a share of the spoils, but the Loughmacrory defence held firm as the St Teresa’s collected their second brace of league points in two weeks.
