LOUGHMACRORY 2 - 13 TRILLICK 0 - 16
Lough move up to third in 1B table
Loughmacrory moved up to third place in the division 1B table after a good win over a Trillick side that needed the points to stay in touch with the leaders. Ronan Ward had the ball in the visitors’ net after only two minutes and points from Enda and Ciarán Ward had them five clear before Paddy Corry opened Trillick’s account in the fifth minute. Neil McElholm then found the target twice for the visitors but they were rocked back on their heels in the twelfth minute when Enda Ward struck for Loughmacrory’s second major of the afternoon.
To their credit Trillick kept chipping away and were on level terms within five minutes thanks to quick fire points from Shane Gormley, Paddy Corry, Niall Gormley, Niall Donnelly and Neil McElholm.
Loughmacrory then produced a run of unanswered points themselves with Damian McAleer, Enda Ward, Ronan Ward and Sean Paul Slane all on target before Trillick responded through Niall Gormley, Dennis Connolly and Shane Gormley. An entertaining opening half came to an end with a Ronan Ward point, the home side leading by 2 - 07 to 0 - 11 at the break.
Sean Paul Slane doubled Loughmacrory’s advantage on the restart with two early points before Shane Gormley and Niall Donnelly hit back for Trillick. Sean Paul Slane and Shane Gormley then exchanged points before Malachy McElholm got his name on the score sheet going into the final ten minutes of the contest.
It was anybody’s game at this stage with only a point between the sides but it was Loughmacrory who finished the stronger with Enda Ward, Damian McAleer and John Gallagher all splitting the posts, Niall Gormley getting a sole reply for the visitors.
