LOUGHMACRORY 0 - 08 0 - 07 MOORTOWN
First league points for seniors
Despite the heavy rain of the past few days Páirc an Locha was in remarkably good condition for this, the first league match of the season.
Having built up a comfortable 0 - 07 to 0 - 03 half time lead Loughmacrory seemed to lose their way somewhat in the second half, the loss of their chief marksman, Ronan Ward to a straight red card as the first half drew to a close, proving an obstacle they found it difficult to cope with. Ward had claimed 6 of those first half points, three from play and three from placed balls, the other a fine left footed effort from Stevie Conway.
The second period was a different story however, the Loughmacrory attack having lost much of its bite without the talismanic Ward. Stevie Conway did score an excellent point in the twelfth minute of the half but that proved to be their final score of the day.
Moortown meantime began to find their range in the last quarter when they sent over four points without reply to close the gap to the minimum. As the minutes ticked away the home side held out to claim victory and the first division 1B points of the season.
