DRUMGOON 2 - 11 2 - 07  LOUGHMACRORY

Under strength seniors fall to Cavan opposition

The seniors made the long journey to Drumgoon in county Cavan last Saturday for the penultimate game in the Ulster League but came away empty handed when they ended up on the wrong side of a 2 - 11 to 2 - 07 scoreline. Although short a number of regulars the young team that fielded just held their own in the first half to go in at the break four points adrift.

While Loughmacrory didn’t have a great start Enda Ward settled his troops with the opening point for the Lough and in one of the best moves of the half Mark McCullagh added another long distance point following a good build up involving Ciarán Ward, Gerry Donaghy and Connal Kelly. The Cavan men then had their first goal but again Enda Ward kept his side in touch from a couple of placed balls.

Drumgoon got the second half off to good start with four unanswered points but again Enda Ward pointed from a free after Ciarán Ward was fouled. Two goals in quick succession from Eoin Harte and Brendan Ward brought the visitors right back into contention but they failed to maintain the momentum and the home side finished strongly regaining the four points advantage.
