AGHALOO 1 - 07 3 - 14 LOUGHMACRORY
Emphatic win in border town
By the time Aghaloo registered their first score, midway through the first half of this rather one sided encounter, Loughmacrory had already posted two goals and four points, and that against the breeze. It was a score a minute from the Lough men in the opening five minutes as Enda Ward was first to send over straight from the throw in and was on hand to palm a Stephen Donaghy cross to the Aghaloo net a minute later. Stevie Conway was next to split the posts and from the resultant kick out he fielded beautifully and fed his mid field partner Damien McAleer who followed suit. Ronan Ward then converted a 45 before Emmott Donaghy continued the onslaught with Loughmacrory’s second goal in the tenth minute. The border men eventually did find their range with two points but the visitors finished the half strongly with a third goal from Damien McAleer, points from Enda and Ronan Ward and a fine long range effort from Stevie Conway to open a massive 14 points gap at the break at 3 - 07 to 0 - 02.
Aghaloo might have been expected to come out fighting in the second half but it was in fact the visitors who registered the first four points of the half in the opening five minutes; one each from the Donaghy brothers Stephen and Gerard, one from Ronan Ward and a Stevie Conway free kick. Aghaloo then did make a few forays forward but Loughmacrory keeper Ryan Keenan denied them a goal with a fine save before they registered three points in reply to three from the visitors per Ronan Ward, Damien McAleer and half back John Gallagher. With the score standing at 3 - 14 to 0 - 05 the visitors finally lifted the siege somewhat and Aghaloo scored a goal and 2 points in the dying minutes of the game to make the score board look more balanced.
