LOUGHMACRORY 1 - 08 0 - 12 SILVERBRIDGE
Silverbridge halt senior’s winning run
Silverbridge travelled to Loughmacrory on Sunday and kept their unbeaten run intact with a one point win over the home side who had to field without their captain Enda Ward who is out through injury.
The Armagh men had slightly the better of the early exchanges and led 0 - 01 to 0 - 02 before Ronan Ward converted a penalty to put the home side two up. By the half way stage however Silverbridge had regained their lead at 0 - 07 to 1 - 03, the Loughmacrory points coming from Ciarán Ward and Damien McAleer.
Fortunately for Loughmacrory the woodwork came to their aid on two occasions early in the second half and this, allied to a fine save from Mattie O’Brien in the Loughmacrory goal, meant that there was little between the sides throughout the second period, the home side keeping in touch with points from Benny Ward and Ronan Ward.
With time fast running out and the Armagh men leading by just a single point, Loughmacrory made one final drive forward and Ronan Ward, who was carrying an injury at this stage, made a valiant effort to level the affair only to see his attempt shave the outside of the post.
