DRUMQUIN 2 - 07 1 - 07 LOUGHMACRORY
Reserves fail to hold on in Drumquin
The reserves were hoping to follow up their win over Killeeshil last Wednesday a with another victory this week over Drumquin Wolfe Tones in Drumquin. They opened brightly with points from Connal Kelly and Ryan Keenan before the home side struck for an opening goal to go into the lead. This lead was short lived however as Kelly levelled matters with a free after Eoin Mullan had been up ended going through.
Connal went on to add a further two points to bring his first half tally to four and this, added to a point from Karl Logue, helped them go in at the break leading 0 - 06 to 1 - 01. Drumquin opened the second period strongly but shot a number of wides before they eventually found their range after 10 minutes to reduce the deficit to one. Three minutes later Brendan Ward made a determined run through laid the ball off to Brian McCrystal and was on hand to take the return and send a rasper to the Tones net increasing the Lough lead to four. Unfortunately Loughmacrory’s challenge fell apart after that as the home side added a goal and five points in reply to a single point from Loughmacrory’s Ryan Keenan to run out three point winners on a score line of 2 - 07 to 1 - 07.
