COOKSTOWN 1 - 11 1 - 12 LOUGHMACRORY
Second Ulster Senior League victory against Cookstown
Today at the Mid-Ulster Sports Arena Loughmacrory collected two more points when they got the better of Cookstown, the only other Tyrone side in Section E of the Ulster League.
The sides were level at two apiece when the home side broke through for a goal and proceeded to hammer home their advantage to lead by 1 - 04 to 0 - 03 midway through the first half. Loughmacrory had the better of the exchanges in the second quarter with Ciarán Ward and Mark McCullagh both finding the range either side of two converted frees from Ronan Ward to level the match. Three minutes later Ronan Ward took a pass from Ciarán Ward and rattled the opposition net to put the Lough one up and Ciarán Ward finished the first half scoring with his second minor.
Cookstown had the breeze at their backs in the second period but failed to take advantage of it. Ronan Ward converted two frees either side of a point from play by Ciarán Ward. As the game drew to a close tension was high and the town men drawing level with a minute left on the clock.
But then Enda Ward played a captain’s part landing a mighty point with time almost up to take the lead and the league points.
