LOUGHMACRORY 0 - 16 1 - 11 GALBALLY
Seniors collect two valuable points from Galbally
Loughmacrory collected two valuable points on Friday evening from visitors Galbally Pearses who played their ball in Div 1A last year. Ronan Ward top scored for the home side showing consistent accuracy both from play and from frees but was ably assisted in the scoring stakes as no fewer than eight of the home side contributed to the scoring on the evening.
Loughmacrory were a point up when the Pearse's struck for a goal to take the lead midway through the first half. The exchanges were close and even from there till the short whistle as Gerard Donaghy, Emmott Donaghy and Ciarán Ward assisted Ronan Ward to keep in touch but that goal still separated the sides at the short whistle as the visitors led 1 - 07 to 0 - 07.
On the resumption the Lough men had closed the gap by the fourth minute with three points in as many minutes from the Ward brothers Ronan and Enda and two minutes later their namesake Ciarán Ward put the home side in front with a fine effort. It was score for score from there until the 29th minute when the sides were level for the fifth time in the half. When the chips were down the home boys dug deep and supporters were in full voice as Stephen Conway put his side one ahead in the final minute of normal time and for good measure Enda Ward added another in added time to clinch the points.
