Secretary’s report to AGM 4 of 6  2005
Before moving on I think it is worth mentioning that during 2005 Loch Mhic Ruairí Cumann Naomh Treasa participated in a total of 92 competitive games from U-12 up to Senior, winning 38, drawing 8 and losing 46. With regards to discipline during the year we had a good record only receiving two straight red cards and 4 double yellow card offences which resulted in red cards in our 92 games. It is also worth noting that the club had to withdraw from the U-21 championship in 2005 as we were struggling to field a team.
On Ladies football I would like to congratulate the senior team on retaining their Intermediate status in 2005. This was a great achievement for the girls and hopefully they can aspire to greater heights in 2006. The U-16 team also deserve special mention for reaching the championship final only to lose to Cappagh. All those involved with the ladies football club also deserve our thanks and praise as they are promoting a very enjoyable and ever popular sport within the Loughmacrory community.
At this point I would like to extend congratulations to a number of our players who represented other teams in 2005. Firstly I want to congratulate Michael McGee who played corner back on the Tyrone team that won their second All Ireland title in three years. This was a fantastic achievement for Mickey and everyone at the club is very proud of his achievements. I think I can safely say that the 2005 All Ireland victory was all the sweeter than the one in 2003 for all Loch Mhic Ruairí Gaels due to Mickey’s participation. Ciarán Meenagh was also involved with the Tyrone panel in their McKenna cup-winning run back in January.
Stephen Donaghy played for the Tyrone Minor team in 2005 that won the Ulster Minor League but were unfortunate to lose out to eventual All - Ireland Champions Down in the first Round in Omagh. Stephen also received a college All Star in 2005 for his exploits with the Omagh CBS McRory cup team. The club also had four players represented on the Omagh CBS McRory cup winning panel, namely Stephen Donaghy, Joseph Kelly, Joe McCracken and Conor Dobbs and congratulations is extended to them.
On the cultural front the club was represented in both Scór Sinsear and Scór Na nÓg. We were represented in Scór Sinsear in the Solo Singing section. In the Scór Na nÓg the club was represented in the Recitation, Ballad Group and Solo Singing sections. Although none of our entrants managed to win a county title the Ballad Group did reach the county final in Killeeshil where they gave a good account of themselves. The club also played host to the first Round of Scór Na nÓg on Sunday 6th November and it proved to be a very enjoyable experience. All those who participated and in both Scór Sinsear and Scór na nÓg, as well as the culture committee headed by Caoimhe Donnelly assisted by Martin Donaghy, deserve our thanks.
The Year past saw the club development draw take place. This proved to be a major success with 2,727 tickets being sold. This generated a profit of over £200,000 when all prize money had been paid out. All involved with this venture deserve great credit and it proves what can be done if everyone comes together and works for a common goal. Thanks again to all our dedicated ticket sellers. The actual draw took place on Saturday 1st October in the Youth and Community Centre with special guests on the night being county chairman Pat Darcy, Mickey McGee with the Sam Maguire Cup as well as Fr. Breslin and Fr. Mallon.
