Killeeshil 1 - 08 0 - 08 LOUGHMACRORY
Seniors suffer defeat in final league game of the season
Loughmacrory suffered defeat in their final league game of the season against Killeeshil on Sunday, a goal in the first half the score that separated the sides at the final whistle.
Killeeshil were more in need of the points than their opponents and it showed, especially in the first half when they could have had another major but for a fine save from Loughmacrory’s new young keeper, Matthew O’Brien. John Gallagher had a great game at centre half back for the Lough, cutting out many attacks and Enda Ward was the pick of the forwards, his three first half points keeping his side in touch. However that goal on twenty minutes saw the home side leading 1 - 05 to 0 - 05 at half time and, although Loughmacrory had drawn level by the three quarter stage, Killeeshil finished strongly to emerge three point winners.
Killeeshil opened brightly and had three points on the board inside three minutes. Two Enda Ward points either side of a long range effort from Gary Conway however levelled matters by the end of the first quarter and two minutes later Ronan Ward put the visitors ahead by a point. Killeeshil soon levelled the affair again however and then struck for that goal which saw them lead by 1 - 05 to 0 - 05 at the break.
Ten minutes into the second period Loughmacrory had levelled matters once more at 1 - 05 to 0 - 08 but the St Mary’s then found their form again and knocked over a further three points to emerge winners 1 - 08 to 0 - 08.
