Wolfe Tones regain Harte Memorial Cup
The Harte Memorial Tournament on Saturday 5th November produced three great games of football in which over seventy under 12 boys took part.
The first semi final produced six goals in the half hour with the host club getting the better of Galbally by four points. In the second semi-final Greencastle started well but Kildress came from behind in the second half and had two goals to spare over their neighbours at the final whistle.
The host club and Kildress Wolfe Tones then met in the final and after a hard fought tussle the visitors emerged victorious on a 3 - 06 to 1 - 03 scoreline. After the final St. Teresa’s chairman Paddy O’Brien thanked all the clubs for taking part in the tournament which, he said, was in memory of two very important members of Loughmacrory club, Gerard and Martin Harte. He informed the young players that Gerard Harte had worked hard coaching boys like them.
Declan Harte, Martin’s son, then presented the Kildress captain with the cup.
