LOUGHMACRORY 1 - 10 1 - 03 EGLISH
Seniors overcome lowly Eglish at home
The seniors took a step nearer the promotion play offs with this fairly comfortable win over bottom placed Eglish on Sunday.
Within ten minutes of the throw in the home side had gone four-nil up and it was the eighteenth minute before Eglish raised a flag. When they did, however, it was a green flag and a minute later they had levelled the match at 0 - 04 to 1 - 01. When they added another minor two minutes later to take the lead Loughmacrory’s early dominance had faded badly. They soon found some rhythm again however and finished the half strongly with a goal and three further points to go in at the break leading 1 - 07 to 1 - 02.
Damien McAleer and Ronan Ward extended the lead with three further points, two of them from frees, in the opening ten minutes of the second half. The game faded badly from there to the finish, both teams were finding it difficult to add to their tally, and a solitary pointed free from the visitors was the only score of the final quarter.
