LOUGHMACRORY 3 - 03 2 - 07 EGLISH
Under 16 boys exit league in controversial tie
This division 2 league quarter final was replayed due to an error on the part of the referee the first day when he dismissed an Eglish player for a yellow card offence. Although he later allowed the same player to come back on to the field and finish the match Eglish, having ended up on the wrong side of a 0 -13 to 1 -09 scoreline, lodged an appeal and a re-fixture granted.
Despite three goals from corner forward Michael McCullagh, two from the penalty spot, the boys failed to repeat the first day’s triumph and consequently made their exit from the 2005 league.
Kevin Fullen and Augustine McAleer were very sound at the heart of the Loughmacrory defence with Daniel Fox prominent at midfield and Conor Fullen and Mickey McCullagh the pick of the forwards.
