LOUGHMACRORY 1 - 09 2 - 11 COOKSTOWN
Reserves go down to league winners Cookstown
Cookstown defeated Loughmacrory in the final Reserve league game of the season to clinch top place in the Division 1B table.
Cookstown had the better of the early exchanges and were 0 - 05 to 0 - 02 up after fifteen minutes. A long range point from Joseph McCracken and a pointed free from Malachy Coyle kept the home side in touch but Cookstown finished the half strongly leading 0 - 07 to 0 - 04 at the interval.
Cookstown continued to exert pressure in the early minutes of the second half before a fine effort from Benny Ward and two points from Stevie Donaghy brought the Lough men back into contention. Two quick goals from the Father Rocks however put them seven ahead and despite a goal and a point from Ciarán Ward and a late effort from Damien McAleer the league leaders ran out five points clear.
After the match as the Loughmacrory team showed their sporting spirit as they stayed on the field to applaud Cookstown as they were presented with the league trophy by match referee, Alan Richardson.
