POMEROY 1 -11  1 - 10 LOUGHMACRORY

Pomeroy snatch points at the death

Despite leading for most of the game the reserve team went down by a single point to Pomeroy at Plunkett Park in this game which was played separately from the senior fixture.

Pomeroy opened the scoring with two points before Benny Ward rattled the Pomeroy net to give Loughmacrory the lead on fourteen minutes. A further point from Benny allied to two from full forward Ryan Keenan and one each from Joe McCracken and Karl Logue saw the Lough go in at the break leading 1 – 05 to 0 – 04.

On the resumption Stephen Donaghy converted a free to increase the lead to five but Loughmacrory failed to register a score for the next fifteen minutes by which time the Plunketts had levelled the affair at 1 -06 to 0 -09. Matthew O'Brien then made a great save in the Loughmacrory goal conceding a 45 in the process which Pomeroy duly converted to take the lead for the first time since the tenth minute. Two minutes later Ryan Keenan restored Loughmacrory’s lead with his third point of the day and when Logue and McCracken added further minors the Lough looked to be on their way to securing a victory. Tragedy struck however when a misplaced pass out of defence gifted a goal opportunity to the Plunketts which they gratefully accepted to level game which was really up for grabs now as the contest entered the last five minutes. It was the home side who rounded off the scoring with another point from one of their dominant midfield paring to take the lead and the league points in the twenty eighth minute of the half.
