LOUGHMACRORY 0 - 08 0 - 10 DUNGANNON
Loughmacrory fall to Cavlan inspired Dungannon
On a fine sunny afternoon the seniors fell to a Gerard Cavlan inspired Dungannon side on Loughmacrory’s new pitch. Cavlan and Ward brothers, Enda (1) and Ronan (3), swapped points in the early exchanges and by the end of the first quarter the sides were level at 0 - 04 apiece. From there to the break however Cavlan, showing that he’s still one of the finest forwards in the county, helped himself to further 4 points, two from frees, with Loughmacrory’s only reply a pointed free, again from full forward Ronan Ward.
The searing heat seemed to take its toll as both teams could only muster a total of 5 points between them during the second period, all of which came from frees, 3 from the boot of Loughmacrory’s Ronan Ward.
Cavlan and Ward swapped points again in the early exchanges of the half and two further conversions from the Loughmacrory full forward brought his side to within a point of the Clarke's. A further point in the twenty seventh minute of the half restored Dungannon’s two point lead but in truth Loughmacrory never looked like closing the gap, narrow as it was.
