LOUGHMACRORY 0 - 11 3 - 10 EDENDORK
Seniors slump to third successive defeat
The seniors slumped to their third defeat in succession when fell to Edendork by eight points on their home ground.
The game was nine minutes old before a flag was raised but when it did come it was a green flag and it was Loughmacrory keeper Donal Ward who was picking the ball out of his net after Edendork’s young corner forward broke free of his marker and planted a rasping shot in the net. Three minutes later Loughmacrory had the ball in the Edendork net but this score was disallowed for a foul in the square. Loughmacrory kept pressing forward however and points from Ronan Ward, Enda Ward and Stevie Conway had the sides level six minutes later. Damien McAleer and Brian McGuckin swapped points before Edendork raced onto a five point lead with McGuckin their main marksman. Although Ronan Ward and Stevie Conway pulled back two for the Lough that goal still separated the sides at the break. Half time score 1 – 6 to 0 – 06.
On the resumption Brain McGuckin again proved to be a thorn in the side of the Loughmacrory defence and his dropping shot in the first minute of the half deceived the keeper and dropped into the net to put the visitors six up. They followed this up with four points on the trot and another major before Ciarán Ward scored Loughmacrory’s first point of the second half in the fourteenth minute. This score did herald a mini revival for the home side and points from Ronan Ward, Benny Ward, substitute Joe McCracken and John Gallagher merely helped to make the final score look a little more respectable. But it was really too late as the game was way beyond them by this stage.
