Seniors overtaken by Moortown
When Benny Ward got onto the end of an excellent cross from Stevie Conway to finish to the Moortown net in the eighth minute he put his side two points up and they looked to have found a rhythm which had been badly missing in their previous encounter against Cookstown. However the absence of the influential Gary Conway from his usual midfield berth proved to be an obstacle Loughmacrory could not come to terms with as Moortown’s ‘Cokey’ Quinn dominated that sector for most of the game. Despite this drawback the Lough were only one point adrift at the break on a 1 - 03 to 0 - 07 scoreline.
Stevie Conway levelled matters in the first minute of the second period and when the same player banged home a goal from a Ciarán Ward free three minutes later to put the St Teresa’s three up things were looking good for the visitors. Moortown however, with Stephen McNally and Chris Lawn to the fore, then enjoyed a purple patch sending over four points without reply to regain the lead.
Although Ronan Ward levelled matters again with a free in the eighteenth minute of the half Moortown replied with a goal. Ronan Ward then pointed another free but when Mickey McGee was dismissed on a second yellow card two minutes later things looked ominous for the visitors and Moortown held on to their three points advantage as Ronan Ward and Stephen McNally exchanged points before the final whistle.
