COOKSTOWN 1 -15 1 -06 LOUGHMACRORY
Cookstown stay top of the table.
Cookstown showed why they are sitting on top of the Division 1B ACL table with this emphatic win over second placed Loughmacrory. They controlled matters from the word go and, despite shooting a number of wides, had nine points to spare at the end.
Conor Mullan opened the scoring for Cookstown with a point in the eighth minute and they had a further three on the board before Ciarán Ward opened Loughmacrory’s account in the twenty second minute. Ciarán's brother Brendan knocked over Loughmacrory’s second point three minutes later to leave just two in it. The Father Rocks then struck for a goal and a point in the last five minutes of the half to go in six up at the break at 1 - 05 to 0 - 02.
The second half was five minutes old before a flag was raised but then Cookstown took control firing over six points in reply to one from Loughmacrory to go eleven up. A goal from Enda Ward in the in the seventeenth minute of the half following Ciarán Ward’s second point of the evening was only a temporary respite as the Father Rocks came back strongly adding three further points in the final ten minutes.
Sean Paul Slane, who had come on for Paddy McDonald, pulled two back for the Lough but in truth Loughmacrory never looked like overhauling the deficit and were relieved to hear the final whistle.
