LOUGHMACRORY 0 - 13 - 09 POMEROY
Seniors use experience to hold off Pomeroy challenge
Loughmacrory are as yet unbeaten on their new pitch and, although Pomeroy put up a strong challenge at the start of the second half in this league encounter, the Lough finished strongly with some excellent scores notably two brilliant points from very acute angles by Stevie Conway and Ronan Ward in the last ten minutes.
Loughmacrory opened brightly with three points, two from Ronan Ward and one from Damien McAleer to lead 0 - 6 to 0 - 4 at the break.
On the resumption Ciarán Ward steered over a fine point from play to increase their lead but Pomeroy then hit a purple patch knocking over four points in the next 15 minutes to go 2 up. Manager Ger Houlahan then took a gamble moving Ciarán Meenagh, who was having an excellent game at full back, out to the middle of the park in a straight swap with John Gallagher. The move paid dividends as Loughmacrory again went into the ascendancy to finish strongly. Stevie Conway and Ronan Ward showed real class knocking over 7 points without reply including those two unforgettable gems from near the end line to put their team four ahead at the long whistle.
